Regardless of the fact that internet gambling is now a multi-billion dollar industry, and endless thousands of new gamblers around the globe log on daily to bet at internet gambling halls, there are still millions of newcomers to the world of online betting who do not as yet have a good understanding of much of the terminology employed in internet wagering, and betting on athletic event in general. Notwithstanding, knowledge of these terms is indispensable to interpreting the games and regulations of play:

ACTION: Any style of wager.

ALL-IN: In poker, all-in means a gambler has put all of their chips into the pot. A second pot is developed for the wagerers with additional money.

ALL-UP: To bet on several horses in the same race.

ANTE: A poker phrase for placing a specified sum of chips into the pot prior to the start of each hand.

BRING-IN: A necessary wager in 7-card stud carried out by the player displaying the smallest value card.

BUST: You lose; As in chemin de fer, when a player’s cards are valued over 21.

BUY-IN: The minimum sum of cash required to enter a match or event.

CALL: As in poker, when a wager equals a prior made bet.

CHECK: In poker, to remain in the match and not wagering. This is applicable only if no other players wager in that round.

CLOSING A BET: As in spread wagering, meaning to place a wager on par with but converse of the initial bet.

COLUMN BET: To wager on one or more of the 3 columns of a roulette game.

COME BET: In craps, similar to a pass-line wager, but made after the hurler has achieved their number.

COME-OUT ROLL: A crapshooters 1st roll to establish a number, or the 1st toss after a point is established.

COVERALL: A bingo term, symbolizing to fill all the numbers on a bingo card.

CRAPPING OUT: In craps, to roll a 2, three or twelve is an immediate defeat on the come-out toss.

DAILY DOUBLE: To pick the champions of the 1st 2 races of the night.

DOWN BET: To wager that the outcome of an action will be lower than the smallest end of the quote on a spread bet, also known as a "sell".

DOZEN BET: In roulette, to wager on one or more of 3 sets of 12 numbers, 1-twelve, etc.

EACH WAY BET: A sports wager, meaning to gamble on a team or player to succeed or position in a game.

EVEN MONEY BET: A wager that pays out the identical number as bet, ( 1-1 ).

EXACTA: gambling that two horses in an event will finish in the exact same assignment as the wager – also known as a " Perfecta ".

FIVE-NUMBER LINE BET: In roulette, a bet made on a grouping of five numbers, like 1-2-3-0, and 00.
